Indonesian books

I know by now that one of my preferred study methods is to just read books in the target language.
Can anybody please suggest books in Indonesian that you really enjoyed reading? Not looking for really difficult literature or poetry, but any normal fiction or non-fiction books with interesting storylines or information would be great. Kid's books are okay too, if there any that you really liked.

Thanks for your suggestions! Terima kasih!

yes.. Andrea Hirata is one of great writer. he have a simple sentence but deep meaning, and i guess his books will help you to learn Bahasa Indonesia.
or you can read Indonesian folklore for really simple story :)

Andrea Hirata is a good book!

I recommend you to read Pramoedya Ananta Toer. He wrote a tetralogy, Bumi Manusia, Anak Semua Bangsa, Jejak Langkah, and Rumah Kaca. All are praised by people around the world and always remembered as a masterpiece. It's all about humanity. And the author, Pramoedya, was very poetic. The books tell about a nation called Hindia (the name of Indonesia during Dutch colonialization). He taught the readers about the unfairness, social status among native Indonesian, Dutch and half, using history data. His description is also very clear and impressive. I'm sure you'll be enjoy every word you read and chapter and can't stop thinking about it.
