    The emphasis changes only if you have to emphasise "thirty" for some reason or the other. Otherwise the emphasis always comes at the end. Always!

     

    For a difference in perspective, I place the primary stress on the first syllable of "thirty," but that's probably because I worked in a bookstore at the register and I wanted to make sure that the customers pulled out the correct number of bills: "That's THIRty-five dollars, not twenty-five. Thanks."

    But if I'm counting back your change, I might emphasize the last digit to keep track of how much money I gave back to you... Oh, well.
