Question about agreement

How much are the exercise book and the magazine? THAT IS ninty dollars.

The exercise book and the magazine are plural while THAT is singular. The two forms do not agree. In my opinion, THOSE ARE should be used here instead of THAT IS. Do you think so? Thank you!

That (total price for the two books) is ninety dollars.
In this case it is implied that 'that' is the price for the two books.
In spoken English, you might also hear "Those will be ninety dollars."
In this case, it is implied that
"Those (books together) will be ninety dollars (total)."

It's a common expression. The total is ninety dollars.
