Please clarify if this person is right about using 但

I wrote小蛾子，你很漂亮，但天气很热，而且我不想关窗

I have just had a Chinese person tell me I can not use 但 without using 虽然. They said “I know in English there’s no “since.., but”, but in Chinese 虽然 always goes with 但”

I have never heard this rule before, I know there is a pattern 虽然。。。但, but surely that does not mean I can not use 但 alone to mean 'but' if I want to..

Thank you everyone. Bear234, Fransico says the sentence sounds out and they cant tell what I mean, do you agree?

In my opinion, 虽然……但是 is not a never-separate pattern. I guess isolatedly using 但是 is permitted while it's not the situation for 虽然. However, in the sentence you wrote, it's an odd to put 但 at that position and the meaning of sentence is quite confusing. I don't know what exactly you wanted to express, otherwise I may try to help you.
