Is it called, 俄国 or 俄罗斯？ Which is it usually called and what is the difference between the two names? I hear 俄罗斯 more in the news, I know.

Contemporarily, 俄罗斯 is more formal than 俄国。俄国 is often used to refer to the empire of Tsar 100 years ago.

we call 俄罗斯now,俄国is the old name of 俄罗斯
