German grammar

Hi! Can someone explain me how can i recognize when one verb is trennbar and when is untrennabar with these prefixes: über-, durch-, unter-, um-, wider-, wieder- and when there is an adjective or a noun before the verb like frohlocken, teilnehmen. Please help me :D

    I guess it´s not working to point at prefixes and say "This one´s trennbar...this one´s not....this one´s trennbar...".

    "Überlaufen" is trennbar, for example :"Die Badewanne läuft über" - "The bathtub is spilling over"

    But I would never say "Ich lebte das über", I´d say "Ich habe das überlebt"
    (überleben - to survive)

    Then what? Could you rephrase that question?

    Just keep studying. It gets quite obvious when you have more experience. Just be patient.
