Why would someone learn Italian?
In my opinion, it's very strange, because only in Italy we talk in Italian.. Sorry for bad English! Correct me!

I am learning Italian because it is such a beautiful language. When I come to Italy I want to make sure I understand those who don't speak English, especially outside of large cities.
Obviously, they learn Italian to talk with me and with my many cheerful friends.
Thinking better, other reasons are possible.
Maybe also for reading some lines of Dante Alighieri in his own language, the same goes for Mazzini's writings; or to be capable to understand Verdi's and Puccini librettos or to enjoy to teach some beautiful Italian songs to their own children; or maybe to sing with a loud voice Lucio Battisti's (maybe Mina's songs for women) songs while tidying up a messy house.
I will exclude from these aims the experience of listening our politician telling their elaborate lies, or watching Italian TV programs; these are not worth even a fraction of the effort.
Or maybe you love my country for reasons only you know about, and you are an honest, sincere and wise person that is kind enough to explain in our own language why we still can't get rid of the Mafia, of corruption
and of stating great theories of life while practically doing just the opposite, of not being able to give due credit to competence and merit,
and to mostly ignore lessons taught by past and recent history; if this is the case, my friend, get my warning well: publicly spoken lies will cover your good efforts, and just a few will thank you, certainly that being from the deep of their heart.
