En realidad no existe diferencia. En español siempre ponemos "y" excepto cuando la siguiente palabra empieza por "i" entonces sustituimos la "y" por "e". Ejemplos:
- En mi pueblo hay muchos mercados, castillos e iglesias.
- En mi pueblo hay muchos mercados, iglesias y castillos.
- En mi pueblo hay muchos mercados, castillos e iglesias.
- En mi pueblo hay muchos mercados, iglesias y castillos.
