Undecided questions
I need some hint on this one, Hint for لك Rule.

I kind of don't get the "your" (لك) rule.
Example how would you say:

Your color
Your chocolate.

    Sort by:

    1. لَوْنَكَ
    2. الشوكولاته الخاصة بك = chocolate for you
    شوكولاتك = Your chocolate
    ** Not so sure about the spelling for chocolate

    In English the possession pronoun proceed the thing you are talking about
    let it be a book
    in English you say your- book
    in Arabic you mention the 'thing' ...like the book here
    then you attache the possession pronoun to it
    thus the expression your book becomes one word in arabic
    كــتابــــ ــك
    كتابك
    kitabok
    so the letter ك here works as morpheme , just like the english morphemes that can be attached to the english words ...see below examples
    teach .....teacher
    start ....restart
    read .... reading
    ========
    what you need to know to that also
    the same arabic morpheme ك
    is used in this way
    in english we used your + book
    what about I see + you
    in arabic see = أرى
    I see you
    will be
    أنا أرا ك
    أنا اراك
    I think it is clear now
    just keep in mind that you can recognize when the arabic ك
    comes in the meaning of /your/ ??? in words that are nouns
    and whenever it is attached to verb it is not /your/
    it is a verb+you
    .====================
    Your color لونُك
    ما هو لونك المفضل؟
    what is your favorite color?
    Your chocolate.
    this is special case for chocolate isn't an Arabic word in its original
    here we use /your piece of chocolate/
    and even with the help of using piece
    we need to add الخاصة بك = that belongs to you
    ===============
    In all cases I am not going to give you some of my chocolate becoz i have eaten it !
    =================
    As for لك
    it is = for + you

    Clear?

    Possessive pronouns in Arabic :

    Book : كتاب Kitaab

    First person ::
    my : ي "ee" example : My book : كتابي Kitaaby
    Our : نا "naa" example : Our book : كتابنا Kitabunaa

    Second person :
    Your :
    Masculine singular : ك "ka" example : كتابك Kitaabuka , your book
    Feminine singular : ك "ki" example : كتابك Kitaabuki , your book
    Masculine plural : كم "kom" example : كتابكم Kitaabukom , your book
    Feminine plural : كن "kunna" example : كتابكن Kitaabukunna , your book

    Third person :
    His (Masculine singular) : ه "hu" example :كتابه Kitaabuhu , his book
    Her (Feminine singular) : ها "ha" example :كتابها Kitaabuha , her book
    Their (Masculine plural) : هم "hom" example :كتابهم Kitaabuhom , thier book
    Their (Feminine plural) : هن "hunna" example :كتابهن Kitaabuhunna , their book

    --------------------------------------------

    But لك is a different thing
    لك actually means "for you" or "yours" the Lam is "for" and the kaf is "you" so they are two parts. a preposition and a pronoun combined together.

    so if you want to say the book is for me or the book is mine you can say :
    الكتاب لي Al-kitaabu lee

    if you want to say the book is for you or the book is yours you can say :
    الكتاب لك Al-kitaabu laka (if you are talking to a singular masculine person)
    الكتاب لك Al-kitaabu laki (if you are talking to a singular feminine person)
    الكتاب لكم Al-kitaabu lakom (if you are talking to a group of men / boys)
    الكتاب لكن Al-kitaabu lakunna (if you are talking to a group of women / girls)
