What is the difference between "много" and "многий"? Например, "Есть много люд
Например, "Есть много людей" vs. "Есть многие люди." Is there a specific syntactical circumstance (as with всё vs. все), like indivisible objects (сталь) take много? Or is it sort of optional?

В принципе, это синонимы, но не во всех случаях взаимозаменяемые. "Многие" может использоваться без других слов в значении "многие люди/особи/вещи".
