As maggie said, there are many ways to say that. However, if you are talking to your girlfriend you should use an expression that shows intimacy. If your girlfriend is brazilian, try one of these:
"Fiquei muito feliz por ter te conhecido"
"tô (colloquial for ESTOU) muito feliz por ter te conhecido"
Both examples, if literally translated, express hapiness for HAVING KNOWN her (not for KNOW her), which is more representative.
