How would you translate these <ing> verbs?
How do I say translate English verb when it's used in a passive sense. I guess it would be infinitive all the time?
Here's some example and my suggested translations:
Although watching TV is fun, reading is more educational.
Aunque ver la tele es devertido, leer es mas instructivo.
It takes a lot of reading and practicing to learn this.
Se necesito mucho leer y practicar para aprender esto.
Watching this is scary
De ver esto me da miedo

Andrés answered your question perfectly. I just wanted to add that infinitives used in this way sometimes take the article, in which case their treated as masculine. Today I saw "¿Quién dijo que el comprar una vivienda es fácil?" Who says buying a house is easy?
