What is the difference between 无知 and 愚昧???

无知：ignorant
愚昧：fatuous; benighted

Sometimes they are the same. If you really want to tell them apart, the latter one usually refers to those guys from remote countryside and the lack of information caused their "愚昧" or you can call a elderly person with some strong idea that maybe not appropriate in the modern society as a “愚昧的” person.

"无知" emphasize the fact that a man lack some basic knowledge that should've been taught at school.

Examples : 连这个都不知识，你真是无知。
这些老年人还存有男尊女卑的思想，真是愚昧。("男尊女卑": the 4-word phrase in Chinese, which refers to the old-style common sense that male is superior to female.)

无知 = ignorant as not knowing
愚昧 = ignorant as being stupid

相比“无知”，感觉“愚昧”最大的差别是感情色彩很不一样
{感情色彩 ： 褒贬 approving or disapproving }
“无知”是中性词,偏贬义 ，愚昧是彻底的贬义词，而且语气更强。

而且，愚昧好像多用来指 old- fashioned , not enlightened

愚昧 :
愚笨，不明事理。
但是 這個 昧 字 作動詞用時 有 "隱蔽" 之意
人的智慧受到隱蔽 致使不能明白事理
因此 有相對詞 "啟蒙"

無知 有二義
一 沒有知識、不明事理 這個意義 似乎跟 "愚昧" 是同義詞
二 沒有感覺 知覺

連這個你都不知道 你真是無知
這裡的無知 是 沒有知識之意

這些老人家還有男尊女卑的思想 真是愚昧
不能說這些老人家沒有知識
而是他們的認知跟我們不一樣 他們部分的思想只是被蒙蔽罷了

無知者無畏 一語
傾向於將 無知解為 沒有感覺(解釋二) 而非 沒有知識(解釋一)
因為對於所面臨的問題沒有危機的意識 所以才不會怕
接近 "初生之犢不畏虎"的意義

通常 我們會說 愚昧無知 而不會說 無知愚昧
是因為 人的智慧蒙昧了 沒有得到啟蒙 因此才會沒有知識
