Please clarify something :)

I was chatting with somebody on mail.ru agent. Then she told me: где живешь? I told her: в США. She told me: понятно. Is this word "понятно" used in answer to something that you hear but it is hard for you to believe? Or it just means something like "I see"?

"Понятно" = "i get it" or "i understand you" or "i see"

It's mean just that she understand you. Yeah, smth like "I see, ok"))
