沉默 refers to simply not talking. If it's used to describe a person, then he/she is not talkative.
年代 refers to a decade of a century. When you see '八十年代', it simply refers to the 80s.
或许 means maybe, like if this didn't happen, then maybe(或许) that wouldn't have happened.
不该 means shouldn't.
太 if used on its own means 'too', like 太远(taì yuán) means too far. But it has other meanings too if it's paired with other words, like 太阳（taì yáng) means sun.
