Is it correct?

"He was the last went out", I heard it in a movie. Is it correct to use the verb "went" in the past tense here? The sentence should be "He was the last to go out" or maybe he meant "He was the last WHO went out"? Is it correct to use it this way?

Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

If his name was Mr Went, you could say "he was the last Went out" (birth/of the house etc). But you're right. What was the film?

You almost certainly misheard it. I think one of the following two phrases was most likely said:

    1. He was the last who went out.

    or

    2. He was the last one out.

In 1, the "who" sound can be contracted to such an extent that it almost disappears.
