When A entered a school, he did not specially stand out.
一部の男の子のあいだでは陰で一目置かれた存在だったようです.
But he was likely to be given due respect among
some of male students(, in spite of his appearance).
So,
- A was not shy (just unremarkable)
- They respected A.
