More the "hand" than the whole leg but yes, that is exactly it.
Also those of lions, bears, pumas, tigers, and so on.
There is also the verb "to paw" which describes an animal (like a tiger) moving it's paws on the ground before attacking and also "to paw someone" which means to touch someone in an unpleasant manner.
