How do you know where to put spaces??
I have been self-studying Korean for a few months and I have yet to read as to when it is appropriate to use spaces. I thought I had noticed somewhat of a pattern, but then my theory was proven wrong. lol Help?

A very useful explanation on Korean spacing
http://www.talktomeinkorean.com/?s=spacing
By modern rules, Korean spacing _should_ look a little similar to how English is spaced (spaces between most words). However, in colloquial (non-textbook) Korean, it's not uncommon to not put spaces, or put very few. (Though, it might look a just a little uneducated/informal)
Some real-life examples from text messages:

As you can see at 14 minutes and 33 seconds, their text messages completely lack spaces. As you begin to understand Korean better, you will understand it even without spaces. Thinks like ㅋㅋ (laughing), ^^ or ~ act sort of like spaces.

Also, if you are learning Korean on your own (the same way I am), I highly recommend using Talktomeinkorean.com and http://korean.sogang.ac.kr/, both are free websites that will teach you almost everything you need to know.
Some more real-life Korean spacing examples:

at 7 minutes and 38 seconds (this one has a few spaces, but also leaves out many spaces)

at 24 seconds and more at 38 seconds

In the past, Korean didn't use spaces and used vertical writing right to left.
After Korean war, we use spaces...
Anyway, In English, there is no postposition (조사 助詞) likes 은/는/이/가 ...
For example,
English : Tom loves jane.
S V O
Korean : Tom은 Jane을 사랑한다.
S O V
In English there are located only words, but in Korean words are combined postposition.
If you are confused how to put into spaces in sentence, Just put the space after word+postpostion.
It may works well. That is easy way to solve your question.
Try to put spaces into following sentences.
1) I like you / 나는너를좋아한다.
2) I'm a student / 나는학생이다.
