    /avvertire/ non e` /to notice/
/avvertire/ in questo caso significa / to inform /

I can inform people waiting for me using the cell phone.

    In other contexts /avvertire/ means /to warn/.
    In this context:
-- Avverto un po` di freddo.
the meaning is /to notice/, but this meaning happens very seldom.
I t would be better in this form:
-- sento un po` di freddo.

    Also:
/avvertire/ : to make somebody notice.

Because avvertire in this case means : to " tell to /call / inform somebody" So that the phrase in English will be " I miss the train, luckily I have my telephone and I can inform (you) that I am late."
