Can you advise me an interesting book in english?
But write "english book" I mean book in British english!!!Classical, not american mainstream literature! Which of the classical books can be good for understanding at my level (Intermideate - upper)? Please, advise me!

I would recommend something by Charles Dickens. Great Expectations is probably a good place to start.

"The Old Man and The Sea" by Ernest Hemingway (this is the longest of the several I recommend here)
"Rikki Tikki Tavi" by Rudyard Kipling
"The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" by James Thurber
"The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving
