    in short
    use 付不起 when talking about things you buy once in a while.
    use 供不起 when talking about things or bills that you have to pay each month.

    我买得起车,但是油费太贵我供不起。
    I can afford to buy a car, but i cant afford to have it because of the fuel cost.

    『付得起』
    我付的起學費I can pay the tuition。
    付=pay
    『供得起』
    我父母供的起我的學費My parents can supply tuition。
    供=Supply

    I hope these can help you. ^^

    付得起后面只能加钱或者和钱相关的词语。You can only put "money" or "words that are directly related to money" behind "付得起".

    供得起后面不能直接加钱,可以加和钱相关的词语,甚至人。You can not put "money" directly after "供得起”, but you can add "words that are related to money" or "people" after it.

    eg. 他付得起这个钱/ 他付得起两元钱。(correct)
    他供得起这个钱/ 他供得起两元钱。(Wrong)

    eg. 他的父母供不起他上学。(Literal translation-His parents can not afford him to go to school.)
    他的父母付不起他上学。(Wrong)

    eg.他供不起他的房贷。(Literal translation- He can not afford his home loan.)
    他付得起他的房贷。(Also correct)
