What's the meaning of silverwear?

Hi,
In a novel of O'connor, the violent bear it away, in somewhere among the story a knot of small boys begin to sing a sang about a man who has forgotten his shoes and say:
“Hi yo Silverwear, Tonto's lost his underwear! What in the heck do we care? "
It refers to The lone renger show but in that show the name of the lone ranger's stallion was Silver, then why here they say Silverwear? What does "wear" mean here in combination with Silver?

I think it is humor. Yes, Silver is the Lone Ranger's horse. This must be a play on the rhyming word "silverware". It's just silliness, without any real meaning.

It's just to rhyme with "underwear" and "care".

If you want to make sense of it, then it should be written as "silverware", ie. silver cutlery.
