What is the approprite way to use the following words

I realize that they are all forms of "Yes or Yeah" but is there a level of formality, and situations in which a certain expression is more appropriate? Like if you are talking to a boss or to child or male or female?

We use 네 and 예 when we say yes to older people, strangers or those who are not very close personally even though they are younger than you and 네 and 예 are perfectly interchangeable.
We say 응 to younger people.
