Is there a good idiomatic expression for this?

A man shoots another several times and the victim gets lots of shot wounds in his body.

I'd like a similar to the one which we have in Hungary. It could roughly be translated: He put so many holes in him like in a sieve.
In other words: the pure man looked like a sieve (because of the many wounds).

"To riddle him with bullets" would fit perfectly, in this case. Also "shot wounds" would be "gunshot wounds" in your first example.
