I decided to find out how to say the strange little phrases I use the most often in English, so I can use them in Turkish too in every day conversation, as I would anyway. Could you tell me Turkish equivalents of the following, and use them in an example sentence :)
#1 Gone Downhill
Oxxo used to make good clothes, but they've gone downhill lately. Now everything in there is boring.
#2 Going on and on
eg. I'm trying to talk to him about baklava, but he's just going on and on about börek. He won't stop talking about börek.
#3 Hit and miss
Mango is hit and miss. They have some really great stuff, and some really bad stuff.
#4 What is it with...
What is it with Turks and tea? They just love it way too much :D
#5 Clingy
I only just met this guy and he's already crying when I leave. He's so clingy!
#6 A pain in the ass
I have to travel so far to get to work in Istanbul. It's a pain in the ass.
#7 Didn't get round to it
I was supposed to go to İstinye Park today but I got distracted watching Aşk-ı Memnu, so I didn't get round to it.
#8 Off to a good start
Behzat Ç had so many things happen in the first 5 minutes. It got off to a good start.
#9 At one point
At one point, there was sad violin music. I was like, Wait what? o_o
#10 Not going anywhere
I've been watching Fatmagül’ün Sucu Ne? for ages and it still hasn’t really gone anywhere.
#11 Off the top of my head
I can't remember precisely, but off the top of my head, Athena played in the 2004 Eurovision.
#12 Seriously
Seriously, Athena are awesome.
#13 Speaking of...
Speaking of Athena, I need to find more Turkish rock bands.
#14 Don't get me started on...
Don't get me started on rock bands. They're all the same nowadays.
#15 Get over it
I should probably get over it, though.
Please remember, all these phrases have figurative meanings, so I'm not asking for a word-by-word literal translation; if there is no Turkish equivalent that you can think of, please tell me :)
