To "catch me up on" means 'they tell me what is happening in their lives lately'.

We "catch up" by discussing the events of a person's life since we last spoke. For example, friends who have not spoken to each other in a year have a lot to "catch up on". They are 'behind' on events in their friend's life, so they have to 'catch up' to the most current information.

It sounds like bloody horrible English. (Americanish?).
    Zenbrat's answer is right.
Catch up, means let's meet and tell each other all of our news.

The correct usage of "catch me up", is like, "get alongside me". If you and I were running together, you (I can guarantee you) would be ahead of me, and you'd say, "come on Craig, y'fat old git, catch up with me!".
It can also be used in an office with work, "he stayed late because he needed to catch up on some work". "Catch me up on" in your example is bloody horrible.
