What's the meaning of this sentence?

I know it was a terrible thing to write that letter. What I don’t know is where it fits in with all of the other terrible things I think about. At some point along the way I stopped believing in significance. Order became an accident of observation. I’ve come to accept that parts of life are constant, that just because something happens on two different days doesn’t make it a goddamn miracle.
What's the meaning of "Order became an accident of observation."?
Thanks!

It's a difficult sentence. In this context, I think it means, "Only because of looking at things did I see any significance in those things. There isn't really any significance. Things don't have a proper order or structure. It only seems that way if we look at things and try to find what the order is." This sentence is a sort of "explanation" for the previous sentence ("At some point along the way I stopped believing in significance.") The writer explains that first he/she saw order in things because looking at things makes order seem to exist, but later, he/she "stopped believing in significance."

Oh, wow. That was a hard sentence. It's a very abstract and deep paragraph.
