맛있어야 돼요 and 맵어야 돼요
I am reading about "I have to" and I understand how to use it with action verbs... 가야 돼요. But it says that it can be used with adjectives too. And I am unsure of the meaning. Are these correct?
맛있어야 돼요
it has to be tasty
밥을 맛있어야 되고 먹어요.
The rice has to be tasty, then I will eat it.
The structure is: verb stem + -아/어/여 + -야 되다
So if I use it with an irregular adjective, say 맵다, I use 맵 as the verb stem, right?
맵어야 돼요
it has to be spicy
That looks wrong to me.

"맵다" is 'ㅂ' irregular meaning the final consonant 'ㅂ' can be '오' or '우' when conjugating.
e.g.
맵다 ☞ 맵 + 아/어/여요 ☞ 매 + ㅂ+ 어요 ☞ 매 + 우 + 어요 ☞ 매워요 + 야 돼요 ☞ 매워야 돼요.
