Prepositions + Infinitives

I think I'm going to go crazy! I just discovered that when most verbs are following another verb and they are in the infinitive that a preposition will go before them:
e.g. J'aide à faire la vaisselle / I help to do the dishes

How will I remember what every verb is followed by? Oh no :(

Don't stress too much, you don't need to learn them all today. When we speak, we always use the same turns of phrase, so look which ones you are likely to use in a day-to-day basis (say 10 verbs max), look them up to find which preposition goes after them, then write 5 sentence with each verb. See if it help making it stick.
    Ex : oublier + de (ou d')
J'ai oublié de barrer la porte.
Il a oublié de prendre ses clefs.
    N'oublie pas d'attacher tes lacets.
As-tu oublié de garder la facture ?
Elle oublie d'analyser les derniers résultats.
