"verb stem + (으)러" has the sense of "to be in order to do" or just simply "to-infinitive".^^'
e.g.
일하다, to work
일하 + (으)러 = 일하러 = in order to work or to work.
먹다, to eat
먹+ (으)러 = 먹으러 = in order to eat or to eat
(the verb stem 먹 has the final consonant 'ㄱ', so '으' added)
