    En general, «rostro» tiene un carácter más literario que «cara». Además, existen otras acepciones, así como expresiones, propias de cada una. Para ello, es recomendable dirigirse a un diccionario si se quiere ahondar más en el tema.

    And actually they are the same
    But "rostro" is more formal and we use it more in poetic context
    "Cara", is more colloquial and common. Hope it helps
