上善若水,水善利万物而不争。
朝闻道,夕死可也。
见贤思齐焉,见不贤而内自省也。

    They are from traditional Chinese classics, and yes they were melted into daily proverbs which are always quoted by people now.

    上善若水,水善利万物而不争。 (The top class of virtue is like water,which benefits ten thousand objects without any demands for return. ) -- 'Tao Te Ching' by Laozi

    朝闻道,夕死可也。(To master the Tao wisedom in the morning could make me die without regret in the evening) -- 'The Analects' by Confucius

    见贤思齐焉,见不贤而内自省也。(When seeing talented people, we can try to learn from them to be similar ; when seeing incapable people , we should try to introspect ourselves not to have the same shortages as them) -- 'The Analects' by Confucius
