What's the difference between "stagger" and "totter"?

And the difference between "stumble" and "trip" ?

    To stagger would mean it was sudden and unpredicted.
    To Totter would be a more continuous motion.

    Totter back and forth, milder.
    Stagger is usually more severe and singular.

    To stumble would mean it was accidental and without fault.
    To Trip can be accidental or a targeted action. IE: He was tripped by an outstretched foot.

    stagger implies larger steps, so posibly a more imminent fall. Totter implies smaller steps-- maybe less likelihood of a fall.
