I am American, and I don't understand some Americans either. We are not all that way. I get irritated when I see other Americans in foreign countries representing us that way. I don't know why some people are like that. Sorry for your experience.
You have had exposure to black America (USA). You are probably much closer to the the intellectual end of the spectrum. It is really not representative of America (USA). Actually America includes Canada, Mexico, Columbia, Puerto Rico, even Argentina, but I assume you are talking about the USA. As a citizen of the USA I would like to apologize for this man you talked to. We are all not like that, though unfortunately a lot of the younger generation look to black culture as trend setting. We do respect other countries, though I will certainly admit we do not do so as much as we should. I think most Americans have a very biased view of other countries since it is mostly based on what they get from our news media. For example, we will never hear anything good about Russia. We only hear about them if something is going wrong or if they are losing or if fires are burning around Moscow. Most of the news we hear about China is meant to make us suspicious and wary. Most Americans identify with european countries (or African) and do not realize that China is quite a bit different. There is not so much of a history of war and imperialism there. We have seen many times in europe and the americas what happens when a country builds up its military and begins to dominate its neighboring countries. We assume China will behave similarly. I am not so sure. Maybe you can set me straight, but as far as I know China has never invaded Russia or Japan, let alone europe or India. That is a pretty clean record, if it is true. I dont think there is a major european or american country that comes close to that.
I've heard that this is a way Americans try to find a mate. Americans are curious animals indeed.
Whoahahah what is there to be surprised? :D This called the fucking global culture following which you should act like a bitch, to forget what dignity is and to be rude to all :-)
Hello,
I am a very old man (75).
When I was young, all Americans loved China. We felt very sorry for China because many people in your country were very poor and other countries were treating China very badly.
For example, sometimes if an American child did not eat all of his/her food, a mother might say: "Don't waste your food. Think of the starving people in China."
This is 2013. Everything has changed. Today China is a very strong and respected country.
I agree with you: if a foreigner does not like your country, then s/he should not visit it.
That word is still considered very bad. People canNOT say that word on regular television channels or on the radio. Many newspapers also refuse to print that word.
