what's the difference between " seem like " and " look like"?

    'Seems like' refers to a concept.
    Example: It seems like his theory is wrong after all.

    'Looks like' refers to the appearance of a person, place or thing.
    Examples: He looks like his father
    It looks like it is going to rain
    Did you buy a present? What does it look like?

    Example: Bob is using a shovel that is broken.
    It seems like the shovel is broken.(This indicates that you see a problem with Bob shoveling)
    It looks like Bob has a problem(This indicates that you may see a piesce of the shovel broken off)
