devil of a job= a very difficult job

It means the job is very difficult... probably like dealing with the devil. There's always something to trick or confound you.

    Hello Gulmira:

"Devil of a job" or a "Devil of Anything" refers to any activitly that might be merely difficult, or even quite dangerous to perform.

For example: "The English Exam was just a Devil of a test.
