what does "So much for my plans of watching TV in there"mean?
[I’m halfway down the stairs when the phone rings. Dad picks it up then calls my name. I hurry into the den, where he’s now lying on the couch. So much for my plans of watching TV in there. “It’s Stephanie,” he says, handing me the phone.]

You are saying that there is no possibility that what you intended to/were going to do is going to happen now. You had planned/were going to watch television in the den but that will not be possible because 1) you have a telephone call and 2) your father is already in the room where you had planned to watch television. Something has happened or is in the way of what you had planned to do - that is the use of "so much for"
It means you were planning to watch TV in that room however your dad has got there before you.
Therefor you are disappointed.
