If I understood your question correctly it was something along the lines of which sounds in the English language is it necessary to pay attention to? Well all of them naturally. But of particular importance are the vowels. A syllable is what a person can in one breath and almost all the pronunciation in English is based around vowels. The vowels are a,e,i,o,u, and sometimes y. Hence a word like water is pronounced wa-ter see how the pronunciation is based around the letters a and e which are vowels. Most of English is based around this as children they taught us by taking a open palm and placing a fist in the hand every time we made a syllable. Therefore wa-ter, rib-bon, Eng-land, A-mer-i-ca and it gets more complicated as you have two vowels in the same syllable. But don't worry most people can understand bad English anyway just throw some out there and people will get the drift of it, hopefully :)

hey sorry dude it is getting late here but i just remembered it is generally pronounced En-gland although the vowel principle still holds true.
