Can you use すき です for persons as well?

Let's take a sentence with すき です:

わたしは おちゃが すき です。 I like tea

Can you say something like this also for persons? So for example can you use the following sentence for your friend, mother, wife, brother etc.:

わたしは あなたが すき です

Additional Details:

I got a reaction, so I have put in extra details I think:

But does it have an unwanted meaning in some cases? Suppose you are saying anataga suki desu to a female friend.

In English "I like you" means something like "I love you" and therefore if you say I like you to a girl or woman it might be misunderstood. Can something like this happen in Japanese as well?

yes, and it is most common way

◎ わたしは こどもが すきです。 ◎ わたしは にほんじんが すきです。 ◎ わたしは おとうさんが すきです。 ◎ you can say あなたがすきですto your the same sex(just friendship)

あなたがすきです to opposite sex(girl friend) sometimes means i love you.pls marriage with me.
japanese peaple use sukidesu to opposite sex a little.... 1 or 2times for ones life

    as well.

Yes, you are right. I don't think these sentence are strange. But we usually too shy to say LIKE to other person. Even to family and friends, we (I) don't say " I like you" as often. That's why someone misunderstand and say ' What? you love me?' It easy to say ねこ/ いぬ/すし/ さしみがすき, however, I wonder why it difficult to say かれ/ かのじょ/あなたがすき!Woooo just thought of this, I am so embarrassed!!
