@Eleven is right, 昨天我的朋友来看我 is the one you should use, my native ears are complaining about 昨天我的朋友来见我.
The subtle differences are extremely important, let me break this down for you.
看 means to see, to watch, to visit, to think
我去看电影
我去看医生
我看没这么简单 (I dont think its that simple)
我去看朋友
见 on the other hand also means "to see" but mostly it means "to meet with someone/to meet someone" in some rare cases you use 见 to express the idea of seeing the result of something.
however if you use 见 to express idea of seeing someone, then it implies that you are doing that for a purpose or something you've been told to do.

我去见我的律师 ( I am going to meet with my lawyer )
