"What did you say?" 日本語。

 

I heard two phrases:
なんだと=> It is informal
なにいってるんですか。=>Is formal.
I want to know the formal ways of saying this sentence.

    Hello.
    「何(なん)とおっしゃったのですか」 is formal.

    なんだと=> It is informal
    →It's not good. 「何(なん)て言(い)ったの」 is informal.
    なにいってるんですか。=>Is formal.
    →It's not kind and curt I think.

    In these two ways, I understand that you are angry. You have understood something unpleasant and you want them to say(repeat) again.
    If you are not angry: (just did not understand)
    「何て言った」<「何と言いましたか」<「(すみません)何とおっしゃいましたか」polite
