もしもし on Skype?

I know that we are supposed to say もしもし on phone calls. But when talking on Skype (with a Japanese person) are we also supposed to say もしもし or we can start off with saying anything, like: こんにちは、おはよう etc?

Interesting question!

When I talk with my Japanese friends on Skype, I say おはよう、こんにちは or こんばんは.
I never say もしもし on Skype.

you can say こんにちわ、こんばんは、おはようございます、もしもし。
i use もしもしor　げんき？(^.^) with my family or close friend.
