I am not certain what you are asking. If you want to relate someone's words, the choice is to quote directly, using quotation marks, or indirectly (reported speech). For example, he told me he is planning a trip abroad next year. Quoting directly requires using the exact words spoken, whereas reported speech allows paraphrasing. The words used in either case are virtually unlimited.

    Paige:

Your questions are too broad and possibly too extensive to reasonably answer.
Randy has addressed your question about as well as anyone possibly could.

That is why I recommend that students of English begin with the study of Songs and Nursery Rhymes and short essays, so as to naturally aquire some memory of the proper usage of these words.

Most of your terms are simply past tense. They refer to what happened in the past.

Perhaps you would like to examine some of my Notebook entries?---Warm Regards, Bruce

Yesterday she said she didn't want to understand.
Today she says she doesn't want to listen.

Yesterday she said her sister had (already) gone to New York.
Today she says her sister has (already) gone to London.

Yesterday she said she had been living in Chicago for three years.
Today she says she has been living here for only one year.

Last month she said she went shopping every other day.
Now she says she goes shopping only once a week.

I don't know, Paige... I just tried to put all the words together ))
