Undecided questions
Folk Clothing or Folk Costume
Can I use the term Folk Clothing as a title of a catalogue with depictions of not only "pure" folk costumes but also garments influenced by e.g. Biedermeier period and worn both villagers or townspeople in the 17th and 18th century? The title shall cover the wide range of various garments (jackets, bodices, coats, overcoats etc.) worn on different occasions (work clothes, festive attires...) I do not know if the term Folk Clothing can be used as a "terminus technicus". Thank you

Perhaps "historic dress" is the term you're looking for. See here:

I had a look around, and it seems "folk costume" is the accepted term. If that sounds a little too pantomimey, then use "traditional dress".
All I know is that folk clothing, is ALL folk clothing (traditional clothing of a certain area or people or whatever). However a Folk Costume (at least from my experience), is a national ensemble outfit that can be used to replace formal dresscodes at white ties and black tie events. So you don't have to show up in a black tie, if you are dressed in Highland Dress. (I've seen that one done before, by bagpiping units at formal events).
