I guess you will want to see recent movies, because the Golden Era of Mexican Cinema is between 1935 and 1960, movies still b/w but they are good ones. I'm sure if you search on google you will prominent names like Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete, Dolores del Rio.
From the 90's up to these days is what is known as "The new mexican cinema" (Nuevo cine mexicano) and fewer movies have been made, some of the most referred ones are:
- Sexo, pudor y lágrimas (Sex, modesty and tears)
- La ley de Herodes (Herod's law)
- Y tu mamá también (And your mother too)
- Amores perros (Translated as Love's a bitch for mkt purposes) Perhaps the most iconic one
- El crimen del Padre Amaro (Father Amaro's crime)
- Como agua para chocolate (Like water for chocolate)
- El laberinto del Fauno (Pan's labyrinth)
- Despues de lucía (After lucia) A fair recent one that has caught some attention, it's about bullying.
