"...unless we confirm it." is more natural.
However, it is not very natural to use the word "hearsay" at all, at least in USA. (I'm an attorney and use it frequently in conjunction with legal work, but have rarely heard anybody say it in any other context). It would probably be more natural to say "any rumor" or just "anything you hear"
