Question about the verb 태어나다

태어자다 = was born

예:
태어난 곳은 베트남입니다.

태어나다 being born
태어나시다 being born (a term of respect)
~ㄹ지 whether or not

We usually can't use the expression 어디서 태어나실지 because no one can choose the place and time. 어디서 태어나실지를 그들에게물어보았다 means '~ asked them where they would want to be born. 어디서 아이를 나을지 or 어디서 분만하실지 looks much more natural than the sentence in your question.
