What's the meaning ot this sentence?
I woke upstairs. I was in a bed, two mattresses on top of one another, really. The paper on the walls was striped yellow and corroded white and peeling.
What's the meaning ot this sentence:I was in a bed, two mattresses on top of one another? Does it mean the bed had two mattresses or the bed wasn't a real bed, just two mattressess?
Thanks!

Yes, the author is saying there were actually two mattresses just stacked up. He's trying to say that it wasn't a proper bed. It helps build the image of a run down, shabby looking room.
