Please, correct my text about New Year in Russia.
Since 1700 by Peter I the New Year in Russia celebrate, as in other European countries, on January 1, and is still on the Julian calendar.
Preparing for the holiday starts in mid-December. Streets, shops, businesses and enterprises are decorated with garlands, toys and posters in the streets appear decorated Christmas tree. Almost every city in the main square of the city sets up the main Christmas tree, decorated with toys, electric lights. In addition, set a beautiful ice sculptures, snowmen and figures of Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden.
In Russia, the main character is a New Year's Santa Claus - it comes in a red coat with traditional embroidery, a red cap, white mittens and red boots. It relies on a staff with a star on top and has a huge red sack with gifts.
Santa Claus does not come alone - his granddaughter Snegurochka (the girl out of the snow) throughout his accompanies and helps to give gifts.
